About the Role
This role involves working as part of the London Borough of Newham's 0-19 Children's Health Service, supporting health visitors and school nurses in delivering high-quality care to children and families. You will undertake home visits, either jointly or independently, following the Lone Worker Policy, to support families with a range of health and developmental needs. Key responsibilities include following up on children attending Accident & Emergency, participating in audit programmes, and empowering families on positive parenting, child development, and health promotion topics such as breastfeeding, dental care, nutrition, and accident prevention.

You will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including specialist health visitors, social care, and local community organisations, to promote inclusion and improve service delivery. The role also involves planning and facilitating group activities in accessible venues, supporting health promotion sessions in children’s centres and schools, and contributing to service development based on local needs.

Administrative duties include maintaining accurate records using electronic systems, safeguarding confidentiality, communicating effectively with families and professionals, collecting and reporting data to inform service improvements, and participating in team meetings. You will also be responsible for reporting incidents and contributing to the development of guidelines to enhance joint working across health and social care sectors.

The role requires flexibility to work in various settings, carrying screening equipment and travelling between locations. You will assist with training new staff, mentor colleagues, and maintain your own professional development through ongoing training and appraisal processes.

Experience
Experience working with children and families in a health or community setting is desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience in health promotion, group facilitation, and data collection is advantageous.
