About the Role
As a Community Nursery Nurse, you will work as part of the London Borough of Newham Children’s Health 0-19 service within a skill mix team delivering the refreshed Health Visiting model, evidenced by the Healthy Child Programme 0-5 years (HCP). You will collaborate with multi-professionals across the Early Help Neighbourhood to provide essential observation skills for children and families in their homes, children’s centres, health centres, GP surgeries, and nursery schools. This includes working in partnership with the school health service to facilitate smooth transitions for rising 5s.

You will proactively establish and facilitate effective Prevention and Early Intervention groups and deliver health promotion activities tailored to the culturally diverse community based on locally identified needs through caseload profiling. Your role includes carrying out assessments for the mandated elements of the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) 0–5 and 5–19 years, empowering families and supporting public health priorities to give every child the best start in life.

You will provide safeguarding knowledge and skills, highlighting any concerns in accordance with Newham and London Safeguarding Protocols. You will assist health visitors in facilitating healthy child advisory clinics, including leading the 2–2.5 years reviews using the national evidence-based Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) tool and delivering the six high impact areas in partnership with health visitors and children’s centres.

Working in partnership with Nursery Nurses within the school health teams, you will strengthen the integrated 0-19 years delivery model in line with the Children Act 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children (HM Government 2006).

Newham’s Children and Young People’s Services is undergoing an exciting transformation to create integrated Early Help and Safeguarding services, aiming to improve accessibility and strengthen partnerships between statutory, specialist, early help, and universal services. This role is directly employed by the London Borough of Newham, which delivers a fully integrated 0-19 health and social care service.
