About the Role
As a Customer Assistant at Sainsbury's, you will put customers first by providing thoughtful, friendly, and helpful service. You will be ready to assist wherever customers need you most, whether that’s filling shelves, picking orders, serving customers, or selling products. You will use and embrace digital tools to perform your job effectively and enhance the customer experience. Your responsibilities will also include organising and moving stock, keeping shelves tidy, clean, and well-presented, and manoeuvring often heavy loads to the correct store location. Building your knowledge of products, services, and promotions will enable you to confidently make helpful recommendations to customers.

Supporting you at work and beyond
Sainsbury’s offers a wide range of rewards and competitive benefits including a discount card (10% off after 4 weeks, increasing to 15% on Fridays and Saturdays), holiday entitlement based on hours worked, enhanced family leave, pension and life cover with company contributions, share schemes, retail savings, physical wellbeing initiatives such as cycle to work and gym access, mental wellbeing support through a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, and financial support options including interest-free season ticket loans and pay advances.

Responsibilities
Working in our stores, especially during the festive season, you will help create a magical shopping experience for customers. Both permanent and fixed-term roles are available to meet store needs during peak times.

You must be above the school-leaver age in your country and have the right to work eligibility in the UK.

An inclusive place to work and shop
Sainsbury’s is committed to being a truly inclusive retailer where every colleague can reach their full potential and every customer feels welcome. Colleagues may be entitled to enhanced discretionary leave for families and support for carers. Resources and internal networks are available to support colleagues and promote representation, remove barriers, and foster a culture of inclusion and respect. Development opportunities including mentorship, training, and career progression pathways are offered to help colleagues grow and succeed. Reasonable adjustments during application or interview stages are available upon request.

About you

Open to learning and developing new skills to improve service. Confident in using new digital tools and technology. Takes pride and ownership in work, pays close attention to detail, maintains a clean and tidy workspace, and continuously looks for ways to enhance the customer experience.
