About the Role
As a Customer Delivery Driver at Sainsbury's, you will be the face of the company at every doorstep, delivering groceries with a thoughtful, friendly, and helpful service that makes customers feel valued. You will drive a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van to deliver groceries on time and in excellent condition. Your responsibilities include completing checks to ensure the van is roadworthy, clean, and organised, and that customers’ shopping is secure before setting off. You will follow planned routes and drive safely in various locations, traffic, weather, and road conditions. The role involves moving containers weighing up to 15kg and delivering shopping to a variety of properties, which may include steps, lifts, or longer walks from the van. Excellent communication with customers is essential, including keeping them informed of any delays, handling queries, and managing any changes to their orders. When not making deliveries, you may assist across the store as needed, contributing to the wider team effort.

Important Checks Before You Apply
You must be over 18 years old and have held a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points. You will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of your interview and a driving assessment upon joining. Right to Work eligibility in the UK is required. Sainsbury’s has installed in-cab AI cameras to monitor driver behaviour, ensuring compliance with road laws and promoting safe driving standards.

Experience
Comfortable driving a larger vehicle safely in various locations including busy residential streets, city centres, and narrow country lanes. Experience working in a fast-paced, physical, and high-energy environment is beneficial.

Qualifications
Must be over 18 years old. Full UK/EU driving licence held for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points. Right to Work eligibility in the UK. No formal qualifications required, but a commitment to safe driving and excellent customer service is essential.
