About the Role
The Data Protection Team Business Delivery Manager will report to the Deputy Data Protection Officer and be responsible for the management of finances, people, engagement, portfolio, contract management, and the effective operational running of the Data Protection Team. This role includes managing the Data Protection Team Coordinators and leading the delivery of defined projects that contribute to the ongoing transformation of Data Protection Team operations. You will support the management and oversight of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) Concerns process, ensuring that potential risks to statutory compliance are identified, escalated, and addressed promptly.

The Data Protection Team operates across Headquarters, five Executive Agencies, and 12 Arm’s Length Bodies. Their remit includes monitoring and overseeing compliance with data protection legislation and Ministry of Justice (MoJ) personal data policies, advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments, acting as the point of contact with the ICO, and managing requests from data subjects exercising their rights to access, restrict, rectify, or erase personal data.

The role is part of the Security and Information Directorate (SID) within the Service Transformation Group, which leads the strategic vision for modernising and digitising legacy systems across MoJ and its agencies. Security and information management are fundamental to enabling the department to function securely, lawfully, and transparently.

Key responsibilities include supporting the delivery of the data protection strategy, responding to ad hoc information requests such as Freedom of Information (FOI), Cabinet Committee correspondence and Parliamentary Questions, developing insights and recommendations, supporting business planning and audit management, managing space moves and reorganisations, shaping and delivering projects to improve operations, managing day-to-day operations of DPT mailboxes and the data protection compliance tool OneTrust, and line managing Data Protection Team Coordinators.
