About the Role
The award-winning Strategic Planning Team at Hackney Council is seeking an experienced town planner to take on the role of Deputy Strategic Planning Manager for a twelve-month period. During this time, the team will begin work on a new Local Plan while progressing two Area Action Plans through examination and adoption. These important projects will shape the future of Hackney and offer an exciting opportunity to be involved in the new plan-making system from the outset.
As Deputy Manager, you will play a key leadership role within the Strategic Planning Team, supporting and deputising for the Strategic Planning Manager. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the production of parts of the Local Plan, managing the adoption of the RTPI award-winning Stamford Hill Area Action Plan, and leading the examination of the Future Shoreditch Area Action Plan. These initiatives are designed to deliver Hackney’s strategic vision, ensuring the borough is a place where everyone can benefit from growth.

Experience
Qualified town planner with experience delivering planning policy projects and line managing staff. Proven ability to lead and manage complex planning initiatives.

Qualifications
Relevant postgraduate qualification in Town Planning (or equivalent) providing eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. Experience managing staff is desirable.
