About the Role
Join the Design and Planning Team at London and Quadrant Housing Trust (L&Q) and play a key role in delivering major, exciting residential developments. This permanent, full-time position offers the opportunity to grow your housing and planning experience while managing the design and planning process from appraisal through to obtaining planning permissions. Reporting to the Senior Design and Planning Manager, you will lead project management of planning applications and RIBA Stages 0–3 design development, appoint and manage consultant teams, monitor budgets and programmes, and ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include supporting the identification and assessment of new development opportunities, building strong relationships with internal teams and external partners such as planning authorities and landowners, managing project budgets and risks, ensuring compliance with planning and governance procedures, and delivering excellent customer service aligned with L&Q’s values. This role offers hybrid working with 20% to 40% of contractual hours worked from the Stratford office or other working locations.

Experience
- Strong understanding of the design and planning process within residential development, including preparing and submitting planning applications.
- Up-to-date knowledge of national, regional, and local planning policy.
- Experience in appraising planning considerations for new development opportunities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
- A 2:1 accredited degree or higher, or a professional qualification in land, property, or planning (RTPI-accredited) is preferable.
