About the Role
Strategic Communications and Brand is an integrated team of communications, employee engagement, and brand professionals combining compelling storytelling, creative content, and data-led insights with media, campaign, and reputation strategy. The team is responsible for engaging employees to drive performance and telling Shell's story to the world, enabling the character and competence of the company to be seen and understood by priority audiences. This role supports a single, core narrative for Shell, focusing on integration across teams and consistent storytelling amplified across platforms and campaigns.
The Editor/Speechwriter is a senior writer and editor within a cross-platform, multi-media Group Content team producing creative ‘hero’ and day-to-day content for Shell’s corporate channels, campaigns, and publications. Reporting to the Head of Group Content, the role involves writing and editing impactful content across a wide range of channels, including flagship speeches and other materials for Executive Committee and Board members, aligned with the corporate narrative and tone of voice.
The role includes researching, planning, and developing content for external corporate campaigns and communications, editing content developed by colleagues, and collaborating closely with Group Content, Campaigns, Digital Strategy & Channels, Financial, Business, and Internal Communications teams, as well as agency partners when required. The Editor/Speechwriter also contributes to team development through mentorship of junior colleagues.

Experience
Significant experience writing and editing corporate and regulatory content, with a proven track record of high-quality, high-profile work often delivered to tight deadlines. Extensive experience in speechwriting for senior leaders in corporate or government settings. Demonstrated ability to work with senior stakeholders to research and distill complex topics into engaging, accurate content suitable for diverse mediums and audiences.
