About the Service and Team
The Adult Social Care – Cheam Locality Team is a dedicated, person-centred team supporting adults in the local community to promote independence, wellbeing, and choice. The team works collaboratively with adults, families, carers, health professionals, and partner agencies to assess care and support needs, manage risk, and safeguard vulnerable adults. Using a strengths-based approach, the team helps people build on their existing abilities and community resources to achieve positive outcomes.

The multidisciplinary team includes Social Workers and Enabling Independence Officers (EIOs) who work closely together to complete Care Act Assessments and Reviews and develop effective, outcome-focused support plans. The team is committed to high-quality practice, partnership working, continuous learning, and making a positive difference in the lives of adults in Sutton.

About the Role
An Enabling Independence Officer (EIO) works within Sutton’s Adult Social Care Locality Teams to support adults in maximising their independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. Working alongside Social Workers and other professionals such as Occupational Therapists, EIOs use a strengths-based, person-centred approach to complete Care Act Assessments and Reviews, identify eligible care and support needs, and help people achieve their desired outcomes.

The role focuses on enabling rather than doing for people, supporting individuals to develop or maintain daily living skills, manage risks, build confidence, make informed choices, and have greater control over their lives.

Experience
