About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Early Help and Targeted Family Support Service for a full-time EPEC Hub Coordinator on an initial 12-month secondment contract.
Empowering Parents Empowering Communities (EPEC) is a unique peer-led approach supporting parents and carers in Havering. Running since 2017, EPEC has made a significant impact on local families and is highly valued by the service. By training and coaching parents and carers to become group facilitators, they share their experiences and skills while delivering an evidence-based programme of practical techniques and methods.
The programme aims to improve children's self-esteem and confidence, prioritise parental wellbeing, build positive relationships, and explore effective parenting strategies.
This role involves the day-to-day running of the EPEC Hub, ensuring delivery aligns with annual targets and budget, and overseeing and supporting the cohort of parent volunteers. The postholder will develop project management skills, supervise volunteers, and witness the positive impact of EPEC on parents and children.
Feedback from EPEC families includes:
“I know I am not alone”
“It was a safe, open and honest environment”
“I felt enlightened about how to deal with difficult situations”
“I am rebuilding my relationship with my daughter”
“I have learnt that I am good enough as a parent”
“I did not feel judged and made some friendships with other parents”
