About the Role
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) plays a vital role in preventing, preparing for, and responding to infectious diseases and environmental hazards to protect public health and save lives. As an Epidemiology and Information Scientist, you will support senior epidemiologists and the wider team in surveillance of infectious diseases, outbreak management, epidemiological investigations, and data analysis. Your responsibilities will include designing questionnaires and outbreak databases, contributing to outbreak reports, and using a variety of statistical and mapping software.

You will also contribute to teaching and training, quality assurance, governance activities, and potentially line management of junior team members. Collaboration with local, regional, national colleagues, and external stakeholders is a key aspect of this role.

Specific duties may vary by site and team but typically include outbreak support, epidemiological investigation, surveillance system development, complex data analysis, and reporting. You will undertake complex analytical tasks using software such as R, Power BI, SQL, ArcGIS, network analysis, and Stata, and develop automated solutions to improve data processes.

The role also involves project management of research studies, contributing to scientific publications, and supporting public health actions through data interpretation and presentation.

UKHSA promotes an inclusive culture valuing diversity and equality, offering flexible working patterns and a supportive environment to enable a rewarding career.
