Location
South East London - primarily based in one of the Lewisham Family Hubs with a hybrid working approach including office and home working.

Hours
Full Time - flexible working including occasional evenings and weekends to meet family needs.

Salary
£40,404 - £41,637 per annum (SO1). Appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point unless matching current salary with evidential proof.

About the Role

As a Family Practitioner within Lewisham Council’s Prevention & Early Help Team, you will play a vital role in supporting children, young people, and families to improve outcomes, reduce risks, and empower sustainable positive change. You will build trusting relationships with families and communities, alleviate social isolation, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary partners to prevent the need for statutory services and reduce family breakdown. This role is part of the Families First Pathfinder strategy, implementing innovative frameworks such as i-Thrive and integrated support pathways. You will have opportunities for professional development, training, and contributing to the shaping of Family Hub and neighbourhood-based services, all within a flexible and supportive environment that values creativity and autonomy.

Requirements

Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Family Support Worker or Family Practitioner working with families facing multiple challenges including mental health issues, domestic abuse, or housing difficulties.
- Experience working in multi-agency environments.
- Knowledge and practical use of evidence-based intervention strategies.
- Familiarity with Early Help Assessments and leading Teams Around the Family (TAF).
- Strong skills in mediation, conflict resolution, and direct work with families in crisis.
