Salary
£49,155 - £51,228 per annum (PO3). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade, except where matching current salary (up to the maximum) is evidenced.

This role involves working both independently and as part of a team to improve the standard of private sector housing stock in the borough. You will proactively identify and issue licenses for residential accommodation, improve poor living conditions, and enforce statutory provisions as an Authorised Officer under the Council’s scheme of delegations. The role requires a strong focus on raising housing standards and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Experience
Substantial experience investigating and enforcing housing standards in the private rented sector. Proven track record delivering and enforcing HMO and selective licensing schemes in line with local policy and national housing legislation.

Qualifications
HHSRS qualification or another relevant qualification is essential. Detailed knowledge of housing legislation, property construction, building regulations, planning requirements, disrepair, property maintenance, landlord and tenant rights, and the effects of housing conditions on health. The role is subject to a basic DBS check.
