About the Role
Due to recent successes securing multiple infrastructure frameworks at Gatwick Airport, Costain Group's Finance team is seeking a commercially focused Finance Manager. Reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager on the Gatwick contract, you will play a leading role in managing and processing financial transactions, ensuring accurate record keeping and reporting. The role requires a can-do, flexible approach, strong deadline management skills, and proficiency with various financial systems to support the wider business. You will support the monthly application process and collaborate closely with the wider contract teams.
You will be an integral part of the Integrated Gatwick Project Team, working alongside Costain and Gatwick colleagues as one unified team. Travel to Gatwick approximately 3 days per week is required.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting the Senior Finance Manager in managing the financial performance of the contract by working with key staff and teams across the project. Ensuring project accounting integrity and accuracy of financial and cost information. Preparing monthly financial reports as part of the month-end process, including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash management. Managing the TEFA Timesheet system to capture all costs accurately and maintain controls. Supporting purchase order processing, goods receipting, supplier payment queries, and the monthly application process through financial and cost reporting. Managing E1 Finance systems to ensure costs and timesheets align with contract and reporting requirements. Contributing to commercial objectives to achieve value for money and cost-effective delivery. Supporting internal and external audits.
Month-end responsibilities include preparing and posting accurate journals, accruals, and prepayments in line with accounting policies, reviewing financial transactions for accuracy, producing actual cost reports, supporting cost value reconciliations, and ensuring financial controls comply with Costain procedures. You will also be responsible for sales invoice preparation, accurate invoice and cash entry, and timely cash collection. Additionally, you will assist with recording and recharging staff costs including IT, company vehicles, mobile phones, professional services, and training charges.

Experience
Strong background in financial roles with solid accounting and finance experience. Experience with NEC contracts and commercial procedures is desirable. Competent in Excel and wider Microsoft packages. Ability to work effectively with finance and timesheet systems.

Qualifications
Degree qualified. Newly Qualified Accountant with a recognised professional body is essential.
