About the Role
Costain Group is seeking a Procurement and Supply Chain Manager to join the Gatwick Project team. You will lead the procurement of packages through competitive tender routes, managing the process from strategy and market engagement through to contract award and ongoing supply chain management. This role supports the reconfiguration and extension of London Gatwick North Terminal International Departure Lounge (IDL), a major scheme aimed at increasing passenger capacity, upgrading seating and amenities, and adding new retail and dining spaces. The project involves upgrading and modernising airport infrastructure to support growing passenger demand and enhance resilience.
As Procurement and Supply Chain Manager, you will ensure the deployment and implementation of sector procurement and supply chain strategy, balancing operational project requirements with the strategic goals of the Group. You will work collaboratively with project, commercial, and engineering teams to align procurement strategy with programme needs, driving efficiency, sustainability, and innovation within procurement and supply chain functions.
Key responsibilities include leading procurement activities, developing and issuing ITT documentation, managing competitive tender processes, structuring and negotiating commercial and contractual terms under NEC4 contracts, managing supplier performance, ensuring compliance with legal and governance frameworks, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships to unlock value and deliver successful outcomes. You will also support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the Costain Way.
Experience
- Significant experience in a similar procurement and supply chain management role within the construction industry
- Proven ability to drive improvement in best practices
- Strong stakeholder management skills with emotional intelligence to engage diverse groups
- Operational procurement and supply chain skills relevant to construction
- Basic carbon literacy and awareness of ISO20400 Guidance Standard for Sustainable Procurement
- Experience leading supply chain engagement, including chairing procurement meetings and negotiations

Qualifications
- Essential: Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (minimum level 5)
- Desirable: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Additional accredited certifications in procurement or supply chain management are advantageous
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience structuring and negotiating commercial and contractual terms under NEC3 ECC
- Negotiation experience with heavily modified NEC3/NEC4 subcontracts to achieve favourable commercial outcomes
- Knowledge of Framework projects and associated procurement practices
- Advanced expertise in ISO20400 with demonstrated delivery of tangible sustainable outcomes through the supply chain (e.g., reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions)
- Experience with ISO 44001 or equivalent, including Strategic Supply Chain Partner engagement and Project 13 principles
