About the Role
We are looking for a Finance Officer – Income to join our dedicated Finance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high-quality processing service for rental income streams. Key responsibilities include posting all rental income receipts promptly, such as Standing Orders, Bank Giro Credits, Housing Benefits payments, Direct Debits, and Allpay. You will manage tenant adjustments including Write-Offs, Rent debit/credit Adjustments, Tenant Refunds, Housing Benefit Overpayments, Completion monies, Court Costs, and Compensation, ensuring tenant accounts are accurate and up to date through journal creations and entries to the accounting systems. You will oversee Direct Debit collections and maintain DD records in line with Group procedures, ensuring BACS files are created and transmitted according to agreed collection dates and contractual obligations. Investigating and resolving unallocated rent receipts from the suspense account accurately and timely will be part of your role. You will also manage daily, weekly, and monthly control processes such as tenancy movements, housing system/finance accounting system interface, and related intercompany postings. Resolving customer queries promptly, liaising with operational teams, residents, banks, Local Authorities, and third-party providers is essential. Additionally, you will maintain income team policies and procedures, recommend process improvements, comply with audit recommendations, and participate in project work including testing and implementing new systems as required.
Experience
Experience of processing high volume transactions is essential.
About you
High level of attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills. Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook with the ability to learn new software quickly.
Qualifications
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English (Grades A*-C). Accredited AAT or currently studying towards a finance/accounting qualification.
