About the Role
Join the Shared Finance Service supporting both the London Borough of Sutton and the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames. As Financial Reporting Manager, you will hold a senior leadership position responsible for the financial integrity and statutory accounts of one of the two authorities. Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting & Control, your primary focus will be leading the annual closing process and producing the Statement of Accounts for your assigned Council. You will provide high-level technical expertise on balance sheets, grants, and collection funds, acting as a key advisor to the S151 officer and Assistant Director to ensure precise, clear, and strategic financial reporting.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a peer-led model alongside another Financial Reporting Manager, sharing best practices and providing mutual support. The Shared Finance Service aims to add value and inspire success, delivering high-quality financial reporting and control across two high-performing London Boroughs.

Experience
Extensive experience in closing the accounts of a large Local Authority with a deep understanding of the CIPFA Code and statutory reporting frameworks.
About you
A CCAB (or equivalent) qualified professional with strong technical expertise in Local Authority accounting. You thrive in a collaborative, high-performing environment and demonstrate leadership through line managing, coaching, and mentoring staff. You have excellent strategic communication skills, able to interpret complex legislation and provide clear, professional advice for Committee Reports and senior decision-makers. You are committed to maintaining robust financial governance and protecting the integrity of public funds.
Qualifications
CCAB or equivalent professional accounting qualification required.
