About the Service and Team
Shape the future of our streets and communities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive local authority delivering meaningful highway schemes from concept to completion. You will be involved in the full project lifecycle – from early scoping and optioneering through detailed design, procurement, and hands-on construction site management – with real influence over outcomes on the ground. Working within a supportive, collaborative environment, you will join a growing in-house design team and a wider highways service that includes client, commissioning, reactive, permitting, and inspection teams. This role offers professional challenge and the chance to directly improve places and everyday journeys.

Support the Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer in managing the design team and delivering a range of highway and transportation schemes.

Experience
- Previous experience working at a Local Authority and/or Consultancy is beneficial.
- Awareness of technical highway design processes including Utilities C2, C3, CDM Regulations, Road Safety Audits, design stages, and commissioning surveys.
- Experience producing drawings and designs adhering to the latest highway and transportation standards.
- Ability to analyse traffic data and propose interventions.
