About the Role
For almost 20 years, BaxterStorey has created beautiful spaces, exciting menus, and friendly teams across diverse locations including offices, stadiums, cathedrals, and universities to deliver exceptional hospitality experiences. We are seeking an influential Food, Health & Safety Manager to drive safety excellence across London, the South and surrounding regions.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on improving systems, coaching operational teams, and embedding a forward-thinking safety culture. You will act as a trusted partner to operations, helping teams simplify safety, enhance standards, and exceed both legislative and company requirements.

Key responsibilities include:
- Championing a positive, proactive Food, Health & Safety culture by providing expert guidance, coaching, and mentoring to managers, chefs, and operational teams
- Driving consistent implementation of Food, Health & Safety policies, procedures, training, and safety initiatives across all locations
- Leading and supporting investigations into accidents, allergen incidents, and alleged food poisoning cases, identifying root causes and ensuring robust corrective and preventive actions
- Analysing and reporting on safety performance data, identifying trends, assessing performance, and working with teams to reduce recurrences while escalating emerging risks
- Conducting regular location visits to offer constructive feedback, identify emerging risks, and promote best practice
- Ensuring timely closure of accident, audit, and EHO action plans across all locations
- Supporting new mobilisations to embed safety processes from day one
- Managing the digital safety management system, ensuring full embedding into location processes and that teams are trained and confident in its use
- Monitoring system usage to ensure accurate safety performance capture and prompt action on non-compliance or risks
- Maintaining and developing engaging Food, Health & Safety training programmes for all team members
- Ensuring completion and record keeping of mandatory Food Safety, Health & Safety, and allergen training
- Preparing high-quality presentations and confidently presenting at internal and external meetings
- Collaborating with the wider Food, Health & Safety team to review and develop safety documentation, training materials, projects, and initiatives

Experience
- Strong knowledge of food safety, allergen management, and health & safety legislation
- Experience conducting investigations, audits, and delivering coaching
- Experience within hospitality, contract catering, or local authority environments
- Experience supporting multi-site operations

- Excellent communication and influencing skills with confidence to challenge and guide senior stakeholders
- Ability to act as a trusted partner and coach operational teams
- Motivated to drive safety culture improvements and embed best practices
- Full UK driving licence
Qualifications
Essential
- Level 4 Food Safety
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
Desirable
- BSc or MSc in Environmental Health
- Membership of IOSH, CIEH or IIRSM
