Hours
Working hours throughout training are 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday. After training (typically around six months), flexible working patterns are available, including full-time Assessment Centre roles or hybrid working arrangements.

About the Role
As a Functional Assessor, you will use your clinical expertise to carry out functional assessments of claimants face to face, via video, and telephone to evaluate their ability to undertake daily living activities. You will ask focused questions, apply active listening and critical reasoning skills to gather accurate information, and produce high-quality, structured clinical reports for submission to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). You will work alongside experienced clinical colleagues to ensure assessments are clinically fair and of high quality.

In this role, you will not make decisions or recommendations regarding claimant services or benefits but will use your clinical experience to fully understand claimants’ needs and living environments, providing accurate information for DWP decision-making.

Requirements

Experience
Minimum of 12 months post-registration clinical experience and active clinical practice within the last year. Pharmacists require a minimum of 18 months experience.

- Confident using computers and learning new software to complete detailed, high-quality reports.

This role may not suit you if you are uncomfortable with technology, dislike writing detailed reports, prefer hands-on clinical care, are not seeking retraining or a new direction, dislike working with targets, or are unable to work on site for some or all of the working week (minimum 3 days).

Qualifications
NMC-registered Adult Nurses (RGN, RMN, RNLD), HCPC-registered Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Paramedics, or Pharmacists.
Excellent communication and critical-thinking skills, ability to type, and confidence using computers are essential.
