About the Role
As Headteacher at Leaways School, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of committed professionals to deliver the highest standards of education to children aged 7 to 17 with special educational needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs, ADHD and childhood trauma. Reporting to the Regional Director, you will be accountable for the day-to-day leadership and operational management of the school. This includes promoting and developing teaching and learning, quality assurance and professional standards, performance management and staff development, curriculum design and delivery, assessment and outcomes, recording and reporting, managing school budgets and occupancy levels, and staff recruitment and retention.

You will leverage your strategic leadership experience to build an inclusive, responsive, and forward-thinking school culture focused on maximising achievement, fostering personal development, and meeting the individual educational needs of all pupils. You will also foster and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including parents, carers, and local authority partners, confidently addressing the challenges of working in an inner-city school.

Leaways School, part of Kedleston Group, is an independent specialist day school in Clapton, providing a safe learning environment for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs including autism and an EHC Plan. The school includes a dedicated primary unit for children from 7 years old. We aim to offer as close to a mainstream experience as possible while providing the additional care and support needed for each young person to thrive.

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting children and expect all colleagues to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure through the DBS.
