About the Role
This post is within the TARZET Technical Secretariat, a dynamic team responsible for communicating and disseminating cutting-edge analysis to support public health decision making, with a focus on outbreak response, horizon scanning, emerging infections, and developmental work. The role involves fast-paced work responding to changing public health needs, including horizon scanning for new and emerging threats across multiple transmission modes and reactive support for incident response through production of technical briefings for internal and external audiences.
The postholder will support the secretariat function for expert technical groups investigating emerging infections, manage governance of these groups, and contribute to the development and productivity of technical reports, briefings, slide decks, and advisory committee papers. Coordination of horizon scanning activities and management of shared inboxes and SharePoint sites are key responsibilities.
The role requires collaborative working with epidemiology, modelling, academic partners, and various UKHSA teams and external organisations to generate reports and briefings for government.
Additional duties include communicating research and specialist information effectively, contributing to national and local policy reports and peer-reviewed publications, undertaking literature reviews and research evaluations, and assisting in teaching and training within TARZET.
The postholder will report to the Senior Healthcare Scientist Secretariat in the TARZET Technical Secretariat Unit and will be expected to participate in continuous professional development and mandatory training.
