About the Role
United Colleges Group (UCG) is seeking ambitious, outstanding candidates to join our teaching staff as an Hourly Paid Lecturer in Beauty. We are a forward-thinking education provider committed to delivering outstanding, world-class education and skills to over 11,000 learners annually, including 16–18-year-olds, adults, apprentices, and students with high needs.
UCG is one of the top 20 largest college groups in the UK, offering education and training across a wide range of vocational areas and levels. Our students come from diverse backgrounds across London and beyond, with over 3,500 full-time 16-18 students, 8,000 adult learners, 450 apprentices, and 250+ higher education students enrolled each year.
As part of our Hair and Beauty department, you will support teaching staff and students by preparing for practical lessons and managing stock control, cashing up, and finance systems. We are expanding our department and building a brand-new state-of-the-art salon opening in September 2026 in central London.
We offer generous annual leave, a defined-benefit pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loans, cycle schemes, free sight tests, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, and many other benefits. We also provide support for those interested in gaining teaching qualifications through our in-house training programs.
If you are passionate about hair and beauty and interested in teaching, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career in a supportive and resourceful environment.
Experience
Experience in hairdressing or beauty with a minimum of Level 2 qualification in either subject is required. Previous experience in finance, stock control, and cash handling is essential to support the department’s operational needs.
About you
You will have excellent communication skills and sound IT knowledge. You should be enthusiastic about supporting teaching staff and students, organized in managing stock and daily takings, and motivated to contribute to a growing department. A passion for hair and beauty and a willingness to develop teaching skills are important.
We welcome applications from skilled hair and beauty practitioners interested in transitioning into teaching. Support for obtaining teaching qualifications is available.
Qualifications
Level 2 qualification in hairdressing or beauty is required. No prior teaching qualification is necessary as in-house training and support are provided to help you gain the necessary teaching credentials.
