About the Role
United Colleges Group (UCG) is seeking ambitious, outstanding candidates to join our teaching staff as a Lecturer in Electrical Installation within the Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment department. We are a forward-thinking education provider committed to delivering outstanding, world-class education and skills to over 11,000 learners annually, including 16–18-year-olds, adults, apprentices, and students with high needs.

As a Lecturer in Electrical Installation, you will coordinate the effective delivery of Electrical Installation study programmes across various levels, providing academic leadership and creating an engaging, relevant, and coherent curriculum. You will develop and maintain up-to-date industry knowledge, bringing in industry professionals where possible to enhance the curriculum and improve student employability.

You will support and motivate learners to meet their individual aspirations and goals, including their main vocational qualifications and attendance to Maths and English if required. Your role will include coordinating the progression and tracking of learners’ achievements, leading study programmes to attain outstanding achievement, student retention, and progression.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work towards a recognised Level 4 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or be willing to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification upon appointment.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in Electrical Installations is essential due to the complex and technical nature of the programmes. Teaching experience is preferable. Candidates should have a firm understanding of current electrical practice and preferably extensive industry experience.

Experience motivating, developing, and managing the performance of learners is required.

Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and build positive internal and external relationships is essential.

You will be highly organised, able to manage specialist and complex projects with excellent attention to detail. You must have the ability to communicate and explain complex issues and projects clearly.

You should be cooperative, positive, and creative in contributing to a team environment.

You will be committed to maintaining up-to-date industry knowledge and supporting learners to achieve their goals.

Qualifications
- Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification or NVQ at Level 3 (Essential)
- Maths and English to Level 4 GCSE or equivalent (Essential)
- NICEIC registration (Desirable)
- Assessors Qualification (Desirable)
- Teaching qualification Level 3 (Desirable)

Successful candidates will be expected to work towards a recognised Level 4 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or Level 5 teaching qualification upon appointment.
