About the Role
United Colleges Group (UCG) is seeking an ambitious and outstanding Assistant Principal for Health, Wellbeing & Care to join our forward-thinking education provider. UCG delivers education to over 11,000 learners annually across a diverse range of vocational areas and levels. As part of one of the UK’s top 20 largest college groups, you will play a key role in shaping and leading the Health, Wellbeing & Care curriculum portfolio, which includes Health & Social Care, Sport, Public Services, and Travel & Tourism.

You will contribute to the strategic and operational management, development, and performance of all aspects of college operations within your remit. This includes delivering quality improvement strategies aligned with the Education Inspection Framework, maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, and working closely with senior leadership teams to develop and implement strategic plans and performance targets.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring a coherent and ambitious curriculum offer, promoting high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment, and ensuring curriculum development meets learner needs, industry standards, and employer requirements. You will review and drive improvements in achievement, attendance, retention, progression, and overall student outcomes.

Leading and managing a team of Curriculum Managers and staff, you will oversee staff performance, development needs, and training requirements. You will also build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as employers, health and care providers, public service organisations, universities, professional and awarding bodies to keep the curriculum relevant and aligned with progression and employment opportunities.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven success in improving student achievement, attendance, retention, and progression outcomes.
- Experience in initiating and managing significant cultural change and shaping management teams.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development, teaching and learning innovation.
- Experience motivating, developing, and managing multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites.
- Ability to communicate complex issues, data, and reports clearly and effectively.
- Experience using data, quality assurance, and performance information to drive continuous improvement.
- Understanding of the health, care, sport, public services, travel, and tourism sectors, including professional practice and employer engagement.

Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Recognised teaching qualification.

- Excellent understanding of the policy context for further education, higher education, adult and inclusive learning, employer engagement, and relevant funding matters.
