About the Role
United Colleges Group (UCG) is seeking ambitious and outstanding candidates to join our teaching staff as an Hourly Paid Lecturer in Hairdressing and Barbering. We are a forward-thinking education provider committed to delivering outstanding, world-class education and skills to over 11,000 learners annually, including 16–18-year-olds, adults, apprentices, and students with high needs.

UCG is one of the top 20 largest college groups in the UK, offering education and training across a wide range of vocational areas and levels. Our students come from diverse backgrounds across London and beyond, and we pride ourselves on providing a unique, enjoyable, and rewarding learning experience tailored to individual needs and aspirations.

This role supports the hair and beauty department by assisting teaching staff and students in practical lessons. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining stock control and daily takings, supporting lesson preparation, and ensuring smooth operational processes within the department.

We are expanding our department and building a brand-new state-of-the-art salon opening in September 2026 in central London. We welcome applications from skilled hair and beauty practitioners interested in teaching, with support available for obtaining teaching qualifications through our in-house program.

Benefits include generous annual leave, a defined-benefit pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loan, cycle scheme, free sight tests, enhanced maternity and paternity leave schemes, and many other staff benefits.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in hairdressing or beauty with a minimum of Level 2 qualification in either subject is required. Practical skills in finance, cashing up, stock control, and maintaining related systems are essential.

About you
Excellent communication skills and sound IT knowledge are necessary. You should be enthusiastic about supporting teaching staff and students, with a proactive approach to practical lesson preparation and department operations.

Qualifications
A Level 2 qualification in hairdressing or beauty is required. While a teaching qualification is not mandatory to start, the Group offers support to obtain an in-house teaching qualification to help you pass on your skills effectively.
