Under the general guidance of the Executive Housekeeper and the Assistant Housekeeping Manager, the Housekeeping Supervisor will assist in the smooth running and efficient operation of the housekeeping department including hotel rooms, laundry and uniform, public spaces and colleague areas.
Your Key Responsibilities
To maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in hotel rooms, public areas and colleagues’ facilities by inspecting all rooms and other areas. To allocate work to the housekeeping team by preparing daily section sheets and informing room attendants of rooms they service and any special guest requests. Open and close housekeeping department shifts and ensure effective shift handover. Report any maintenance issues and follow up as necessary. Ensure all guest requests, queries and complaints are dealt with timely, keeping housekeeping management informed. Ensure all supplies and furniture are correctly stored and storage areas are clean and secure. Report low stock levels to management. Check room condition after guest departure and report necessary work. Complete inspection checklists of all assigned rooms and areas. Maintain current and thorough knowledge of all housekeeping systems. Assist in planning and controlling Preventative Cleaning and Weekly/Monthly project schedules for rooms and public areas, ensuring timely and efficient execution. Control distribution and collection of keys and housekeeping equipment. Perform general administrative tasks such as record keeping and filing. Induct and train new colleagues and agency team members to ensure awareness of performance standards and health and safety requirements. Undertake on-the-job training with colleagues to maintain standards. Report any poor performance or misconduct issues to management. Lead and performance manage room and public area attendants and porters, ensuring appraisals and relevant training/development activities are undertaken. Administer the Lost Property procedure. Assist room and public area attendants and porters with duties as required. Comply with all relevant internal rules, policies and procedures including Health and Safety and Data Protection.
Experience
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail. Experience working in housekeeping or hospitality supervision is implied.
About you
Maintain positive and productive working relationships with team members and other departments. Ability to work independently and collaboratively to promote teamwork. Must be able to stand or walk a minimum eight-hour shift and perform physical tasks including twisting, towing (pushing or pulling), reaching, bending, climbing and carrying objects as necessary. Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to work inside and outside throughout the year based on business volumes. Good commercial awareness including ability to plan and work within an agreed budget. Ability to work under pressure and attention to detail. Ability to bring out the best in people.
Qualifications
Excellent written and spoken English. Intermediate understanding of computer systems such as Opera Cloud, Unifocus Property Management System, Adaco, Fourth Hospitality, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of health and safety requirements and compliance with internal policies.
