About the Role
Join Peabody as a Housing Support Worker and make a real difference in the lives of young people aged 16–25, including care leavers. This role is focused on providing practical and emotional support rather than care. You will help young people develop essential life skills, access housing, manage benefits, and budget effectively to support their journey to independence. Creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where young people feel empowered and respected is key. Bringing your own passions such as music, art, or sports will help enrich the community and build meaningful connections. You will also collaborate closely with colleagues and external partners to ensure timely and appropriate support for each individual.
Experience
- Experience working with young people, particularly those who have faced trauma, mental health challenges, or substance misuse is desirable.
- Transferable experience from youth work, education, housing, or similar sectors is valued.
About you
- Able to connect easily and build rapport with young people.
- Creative and confident in engaging young people through interests such as music, sports, or art.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, managing a caseload and supporting residents with budgeting, benefits, and housing options.
- Strong communication and IT skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, support plans, or key working is ideal.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required for this role, but relevant experience and a passion for supporting young people are essential.
