Location
London Borough of Lambeth, with regular travel to HMP Isis and other prison and probation sites across the London region. Base location to be agreed within the London region, including options such as Justice Collaboration Centres, Justice Satellite Offices, or prison locations including HMP Brixton, HMP High Down, HMP Isis, HMP Pentonville, HMP Wandsworth, and HMP Wormwood Scrubs.

About the Role
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is responsible for the UK’s criminal and civil justice systems, employing over 88,000 staff across England and Wales. The MoJ People and Capability team supports these efforts by enabling staff to perform at their best. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide strategic HR business partnering to senior leaders within HM Prisons and Probation Service (HMPPS), supporting the delivery of key objectives such as public protection and reducing reoffending.

This position sits within the HR Business Partner (HMPPS) Team, the front-facing arm of the People & Capability function, supporting multiple business units across HMPPS. The post holder will partner Governors and senior leaders within the Prison and Probation Services or National Services, playing a critical role in supporting business change in a complex environment.

Key responsibilities include partnering senior leaders to deliver people priorities, facilitating access to central HR services, and implementing innovative people initiatives. The role requires regular travel within the London region and occasional travel to other HMPPS sites. Business partnering arrangements may change, requiring flexibility to provide cover and support across different business areas.

The post holder will provide strategic input on HR topics, coach leaders on managing people issues, and connect the organisation with appropriate People Function services. They will support change management, resourcing and retention, leadership capability development, attendance and performance management, employee experience and engagement, and inclusion and well-being initiatives.

Experience
- Proven ability to build and manage diverse relationships, including with senior stakeholders
- Experience working within an HR team delivering HR plans and supporting people management to optimise staff performance
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to analyse and apply data and analytics to support business delivery
