About the Role
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) Commercial directorate is seeking a Senior Systems Manager to join its Commercial Operating Centre. This high-impact role requires strong leadership and expert knowledge of Purchase to Pay (P2P) processes and systems. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders across MoJ to develop and implement transactional strategies that improve ordering and payment efficiency for the department and its suppliers.
As Senior Systems Manager, you will lead the development of a Source to Pay (S2P) systems strategy, oversee a team responsible for maintaining and improving P2P processes, and ensure alignment with broader government programmes. You will influence at senior levels, including Director and Deputy Director, and work closely with suppliers and other government bodies.
Key responsibilities include supporting future S2P system developments, leading policy implementation, driving adoption of systems such as Basware eMarketplace, managing low value transactional strategies, and acting as the Global P2P process owner for MoJ. You will also lead spend reporting and insight initiatives, support commercial teams in pre-procurement transactional strategies, and deliver ongoing P2P support services aligned to business needs.
This role offers the opportunity to shape P2P excellence within one of central government’s largest departments, contributing to efficient contract management and supplier relationships.
Experience
- Leading and motivating a multi-functional Purchase to Pay team
- Strong understanding of P2P processes and industry standard practices, including government global design principles
- Knowledge of commercial processes and Source to Contract systems and their integration with P2P
- Understanding of finance processes and principles related to P2P
- Ownership and improvement of P2P processes in large organisations
- Leading development of reporting and insight from large datasets
- Coaching and developing individuals to maximise their potential
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
About You
You will be a confident leader and communicator with the ability to influence at senior levels. You should be collaborative, strategic, and able to manage complex stakeholder relationships. Experience working with geographically dispersed teams and multiple locations is desirable. You will be committed to delivering efficient transactional strategies that support prompt payment and cost savings.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement are essential.
