About the Role
Nomura is a global financial services group with a presence in approximately 30 countries and regions, serving individuals, institutions, corporates, and governments through Wealth Management, Investment Management, and Wholesale divisions. The Corporate Communications team manages all communication activities including Media Relations, Internal Communications, Branding & Marketing, and Community Affairs. As a Media Relations Associate, you will play a key role in promoting and protecting the bank's reputation by delivering day-to-day media promotion, developing and maintaining relationships with journalists and internal stakeholders, and providing expert media relations advice and support.
Your responsibilities will include compiling media clips for staff, identifying proactive media opportunities, pitching story ideas, scheduling interviews, preparing briefing notes, responding to media queries, reviewing external materials, overseeing media training, drafting and distributing press releases, liaising with European PR agencies, coordinating media activities with global communications teams, and supporting overall team functions including scheduling meetings and assisting other communications areas as needed.
Experience
Experience in financial communications is required. Proven ability to navigate a large, complex organization and strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong news judgement and awareness of engagement risks. Attention to detail with good proofreading skills. Proactive problem solver with the ability to work collaboratively and inspire others.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in journalism, communications, public relations, or English literature.
