About the Role
As a Medical Technologist Apprentice within Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, you will provide essential technical support and equipment management for respiratory and ventilation devices. Under supervision, you will carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and fault-finding, ensuring all equipment is mechanically and electrically safe and compliant with Trust policies and medical device regulations. You will maintain accurate records of servicing, repairs, and equipment status, and use specialist test and calibration equipment with care.

You will support clinical and community services by assisting with the installation, setup, servicing, and collection of respiratory equipment in hospital, clinic, and community settings. This includes providing technical input to support patient discharge and continuity of care, participating in community-based services such as home visits and remote set-up pathways, and communicating clearly with patients, families, and carers regarding the safe use and care of equipment.

Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide clear technical advice to consultants, nurses, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals. You will also escalate technical, clinical, or safety concerns appropriately to ensure the highest standards of patient care and equipment safety.
