About the Role

The Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital is the largest heart and lung centre in the UK and among the largest in Europe, renowned worldwide for its expertise, care standards, and research achievements.

We are seeking a professional and experienced Receptionist/Booking Clerk to join our Nuclear Medicine Department. This role involves working in a small, dynamic front office team, providing an efficient and welcoming service. You will be the first point of contact for patients, staff, and visitors, requiring excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and computer literacy.

The Nuclear Medicine department is a collaborative environment with around 15 staff members, including medical professionals, technologists, physicists, and support staff. The team is dedicated to advanced diagnostic services, safe handling of radioactive materials, and compassionate patient care. This role offers the opportunity to work in a specialized, fast-evolving medical field with a strong sense of community and teamwork.

Key responsibilities include managing patient appointments, maintaining computerized records using EPIC, handling enquiries professionally, coordinating patient movement within the department, and supporting administrative tasks to ensure smooth daily operations. Training will be provided, and previous NHS or hospital experience is desirable but not essential.

General office experience and customer service experience are essential. Previous NHS or hospital experience is desirable but not required.

About you
You will be professional, approachable, and able to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, clinical staff, and external agencies. A good eye for detail, initiative, and the ability to work as part of a team are important. You should be able to handle enquiries tactfully and sympathetically, especially when dealing with distressed or anxious individuals.

Qualifications
A good educational standard is essential, typically GCSE level. No formal qualifications are required for this post, but computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office are essential. Experience or knowledge of EPIC is desirable.
