About the Role
As a Patient Administrator, you will provide a customer-focused service, dealing with all patients and visitors efficiently, politely, and courteously. You will support the delivery of a high-quality healthcare service, ensuring all patients receive excellent service. Your responsibilities include handling patient and relative queries confidentially and sensitively, referring clinical queries to appropriate staff, and interacting empathetically with patients and relatives in distress. You will take and relay telephone enquiries and messages using initiative and prioritisation skills, update patient details on the Patient Administration System (PAS), and check demographic details on arrival or departure. You will oversee the work of more junior staff, ensure work objectives are met daily, and demonstrate duties to new starters. Additionally, you will ensure all procedures related to data capture for service-specific outcomes are followed, arrange interpreter and transport services when needed, adhere to trust-wide standard operating procedures and policies for clinical administrative processes, and participate in their development. You will also provide cover across the POD as required and ensure the availability of all necessary documents, including forms, patient information leaflets, questionnaires, labels, and continuation sheets, maintaining an excellent standard of service to patients at all times.
Experience
Experience in a customer service or administrative role within a healthcare or similar setting is desirable to effectively manage patient interactions and administrative duties.
