About the Role
As a Private Patient Care Coordinator, you will be the first point of contact for all patients, visitors, and staff attending the Chelsea or Westminster Wings. Your role is to provide a friendly and professional welcome, ensuring visitors are oriented to the unit including facilities such as bathrooms and refreshments. You will be responsible for logging all patients and visitors in and out of the inpatient unit to maintain accurate security records, crucial in the event of a security breach or fire alarm.
You will keep patients informed about their visit, including any delays or waiting times, and notify consultants when patients have arrived. Maintaining consultant rooms to ensure they are clean and fit for use is also part of your duties.
Security of the unit must be maintained at all times, with any maintenance requests actioned where possible and issues reported to the Customer Service Manager for Chelsea and Westminster Wing or the Midwife in Charge for Kensington Wing.
Answering phone calls promptly and working closely with consultants and their secretaries to meet requests is essential. You will progress private healthcare referrals by securing the most convenient appointments for patients and keeping them updated on their appointments and treatment plans. Where appropriate, referrals will be made to the Patient Liaison Officer to manage bookings.
Additional responsibilities include undertaking filing training, ensuring timely filing and retrieval of notes and pathology tests, maintaining records of case note transfers, and supporting clinical teams by retrieving, transferring, and re-filing medical records as required.
