About the Role
As a Planning Engineer, you will be a fundamental part of the team, working closely with stakeholders to develop and manage programmes, completing updates and reporting both internally and externally. You will assist the Senior Planning Engineer and Planning Manager in developing and monitoring the construction programme, ensuring compliance with SCS planning standards and HS2 requirements. The role involves creating safe, efficient, and cost-effective programmes that meet all required access dates, milestones, and key dates. You will contribute to programme risk assessments and mitigation, interface with multiple functional teams including BIM, design, estimation, and construction execution, and ensure integration of the construction programme into the BIM model. Progress monitoring, forecasting potential issues, and proposing mitigation measures to the Project Manager are key responsibilities. You will also liaise with the client’s construction planning team, stakeholders, and other work packages to share best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement. This role is part of the Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract, which includes twin-bored tunnels, SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks, and site compound construction.
Experience
Prior experience in a planning function within civil engineering projects is required. Experience with development and implementation of Asset Structures, Planning Standards, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), and planning processes in a BIM environment is essential.

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams and stakeholders. You should be proactive in pursuing excellence and continuous improvement of planning approaches and processes. Knowledge of safety, environment, and risk management is important.
Qualifications
Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or an appropriate professional qualification. Competence in Primavera P6 and Tilos software is required.
