About the Role

We are seeking an outstanding Positive Behaviour Mentor to join our Additional Learning Support (ALS) team. In this role, you will support learners whose behavioural, emotional, social, or mental health needs may present barriers to learning, attendance, progress, and achievement.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and compassionate professional committed to helping young people and adults develop resilience, self-regulation, and positive behaviours. You will provide specialist interventions and mentoring support for learners with a range of needs, including those with SEND, SEMH needs, EHCPs, and learning difficulties and disabilities.

You will build strong, professional relationships with learners to help them overcome challenges, engage positively with college life, and develop skills needed for future education, employment, and independent adulthood. Collaboration with curriculum teams, Learning Support Practitioners, safeguarding staff, parents/carers, and external agencies will be essential to ensure coordinated and effective support that promotes inclusion and success.

Experience
Experience working with young people or adults with behavioural, emotional, social, or mental health needs is desirable. Experience in mentoring, behaviour management, counselling, coaching, youth work, or SEND support is advantageous.

You are committed to supporting learners to develop resilience and positive behaviours and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications
Training or qualifications in behaviour management, counselling, coaching, youth work, or SEND are desirable but not essential. A commitment to ongoing professional development and safeguarding is required. The post is subject to enhanced DBS clearance and safer recruitment checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026 guidance.
