Heathfield Rd, London
Hours
37 hours per week with shift patterns including hours outside of 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, weekends and public holidays. A 20% unsocial hours payment is included for working these hours. Part-time and job share arrangements may be considered subject to business needs, but full range of shifts must be covered.
Salary
Band 3 salary inclusive of 20% unsocial hours allowance ranging from £39,493 to £41,582
About the Role
This is not your average catering job. You will work in a professional industrial kitchen environment within the prison, applying your catering qualifications and skills to prepare and cook quality, nutritional meals for the entire prison population. You will oversee the work of offenders, supporting them to learn new skills, gain qualifications, and improve their chances of employment upon release. The role offers a good salary, pension, Civil Service benefits, and apprenticeship opportunities to earn while you learn. Unlike traditional catering roles, you will not be required to work late evenings.
Experience
- Competency within an industrial kitchen environment
- Familiarity with current health, safety and hygiene regulations for kitchen work

- Able to communicate confidently in English
- Willingness to support and develop offenders through catering work
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality
Qualifications
- Level 2 Certificate in Food Production within Hospitality and Catering or equivalent
- Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2
- Vocational Qualification at Level 3 or willingness to work towards this within an agreed timescale
- Refresher training in food safety (HACCP) to be completed every three years
