About the Role
The Electronic Monitoring Probation Service Officer (PSO) role within the Probation Electronic Monitoring team offers an excellent career development opportunity for individuals seeking to work in a specialist team responding to regional and national priorities. This role operates in a fast-paced and continually evolving environment, requiring close collaboration with key stakeholders at both regional and national levels. The successful candidate will work in a high volume, dynamic setting where change is constant, requiring flexibility, effective prioritisation, and confident response to competing demands.

The London Electronic Monitoring Team is a high performing function overseeing the effective monitoring of electronic monitoring (EM) solutions. The team supports Probation Delivery Units to provide risk management and public protection to those at risk of custody. EM sentences offer an alternative to custody and include elements of rehabilitation via a variety of EM options. The team liaises with external providers and key stakeholders to ensure timely enforcement.

The EM PSO role differs from a standard PSO role in that there is limited or no direct contact with people on probation. Instead, you will work alongside Probation Practitioners to ensure delivery and enforcement of EM is maintained to a high standard. Full PSO training will be provided.

Key tasks include monitoring EM orders from sentence to completion, ensuring successful fitment of EM equipment, completing risk forms and breach reports for court, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and court attendance if necessary.

Successful applicants may be based at a variety of office, court, team, or prison locations within the Probation Service region, with allocations made according to business need.

The Probation Service protects the public by managing offenders in the community and supports offenders to turn their lives around. Joining this team means becoming part of a supportive environment that values knowledge sharing and expertise.
