Hours
This role requires working unsociable hours including evenings and some weekends. Evening work is essential as the majority of programmes are delivered during these times. Travel between office locations is required and travel expenses can be claimed.

Salary
Starting salary of £26,475 with additional unsocial hours payments: 30% premium for evenings and 50% premium for Saturdays. Annual pay progression is available through a Competency Based Framework (CBF) and pay bands are reviewed annually in line with Civil Service pay guidance.

About the Role
As a Programme Facilitator within HM Prison & Probation Service, you will deliver accredited rehabilitation programmes and structured interventions aimed at reducing reoffending and supporting offenders to build pro-social, fulfilling lives. You will work with individuals subject to Community Orders or on licence after release, including those convicted of sexual offending, domestic abuse, violent and acquisitive crimes.
You will deliver group and one-to-one sessions, managing group dynamics and challenging behaviour, while creating a safe and structured learning environment tailored to different needs and learning styles. You will monitor progress, risk, and wellbeing, keep accurate records, and collaborate closely with courts, criminal justice agencies, and probation staff.
Extensive training and support are provided, including multiple one-week residential accredited programme training events outside London. Successful completion of a 6-month probationary period, assessment centre, and training assessments are required.
This role is regionally based within the Interventions Team and involves travel across London offices. There is no line management responsibility. The work is varied, challenging, and meaningful, offering job security, career progression, and the opportunity to make a real difference in communities.

Requirements

Experience
Experience working with offenders or in rehabilitation settings is desirable but not essential. A commitment to supporting positive change and rehabilitation is crucial.

About you
Passionate about rehabilitation and helping people make meaningful, sustained changes. Able to work flexibly including evenings and weekends. Comfortable delivering groupwork and one-to-one interventions, managing challenging behaviour, and working collaboratively with diverse teams. Willingness to travel across multiple London locations. Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and motivate people on probation.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required; however, successful completion of accredited programme training and a 6-month probationary period including assessments is mandatory. You must have the legal right to work in the UK and comply with Civil Service nationality requirements. Due to immigration rule changes, sponsorship for Skilled Worker visas is not available for this role unless previously held prior to July 2025.
