Salary
Starting salary £26,475 with opportunity for annual pay progression through a Competency Based Framework (CBF). Pay bands increase annually in line with Civil Service Pay guidance.
About the Role

As a Probation Services Officer (PSO), you will manage a caseload of medium and lower risk offenders before and after sentence. Your duties will include assessment, sentence implementation, offender management, and producing reports. You will provide case management support using service procedures and practice directions that underpin professional judgement.
Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing and managing risks, providing information to courts, and working closely with agencies throughout the justice system. You will support offenders by providing practical advice on housing, employment, or simply by listening and empathising. The role offers extensive on-the-job training and a clear career pathway within the Probation Service.

Experience
Experience working with people who have social or personal difficulties is desirable but not essential. The role requires empathy, patience, and resilience.
