Full Time - 37 hours per week on a rolling shift pattern including nights, evenings, weekends, and Bank/Public holidays

Salary
£29,432 per annum (inclusive of 20% unsocial hours allowance)

About the Role
As part of the prison support team at HMP High Down, you will play a vital role in keeping the prison running smoothly and safely. This active role involves a variety of physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and extended periods of standing and walking. You will work both day and night shifts, sometimes undertaking lone working duties. Your responsibilities may include gate duties, searching staff, visitors and vehicles, patrolling the prison site, operating the control room radio system, monitoring CCTV, welcoming and escorting visitors, managing correspondence and mail, supervising prisoners, delivering food, and driving duties such as collecting mail from the local sorting office. You will receive full training and support from your team. The role requires good judgement, common sense, responsibility, and teamwork to ensure the secure operation of the prison environment.

Experience
No formal experience or qualifications are required. The role is suitable for individuals with good judgement, responsibility, and a team-oriented mindset.

About you
You should be physically fit to perform active duties including lifting and walking for long periods. You must be able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently during lone working periods. Good communication skills and the ability to follow procedures and protocols are essential. A driving licence and own transport are beneficial but not essential. Tattoos are permitted but must not be offensive, discriminatory, violent, or intimidating. Facial tattoos are generally not acceptable except for cultural, religious, or medical reasons.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required. Full training and induction will be provided, including security and diversity training. You must be able to confidently fulfil all spoken aspects of the role in English.
