About the Role
The Housing Management Service at Hackney is undergoing transformation to better meet the evolving needs of our residents. Housing remains a critical priority, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards across 30,000 council homes. Following the return of our ALMO twenty months ago, we have set a new vision and pace for Housing services.
The Procurement Coordinator is a vital role within the Property and Asset Management team, responsible for supporting multi-million pound procurement projects from inception to completion. This role covers the full spectrum of Property services including Property and Asset Management, Building Maintenance, and Building Safety.
As a Procurement Coordinator, you will provide essential support to the Procurement Category Manager and officers by managing a comprehensive pipeline of procurement activities. Your focus will be on ensuring all contracts are executed on schedule while adhering strictly to internal governance protocols and the Procurement Act 2023. While experience in property, housing, or construction sectors is advantageous, familiarity with the Building Regulations 2010 and the Building Safety Act 2022 is highly desirable.
You will work closely with the Procurement Category Manager and officers to provide advice on procurement processes and best practices, manage procurement work-streams, source providers, coordinate procurement activities, and support procurement reporting.

- Prioritize daily tasks and set objectives and deadlines accordingly
Experience
- Planning, managing, and monitoring programmes of work
- Producing contracts and service agreements, ideally within a local authority context
- Making presentations to a wider audience including members and senior managers
- Using IT-based systems to support decision-making

Qualifications
- Working towards a relevant professional qualification (e.g. MCIPS) and/or appropriate professional experience (desirable)
- Candidates with strong procurement experience but without academic qualifications will also be considered
- The Council supports staff wishing to pursue relevant academic or professional studies for career development
