About the Role
HS2 is Great Britain's new high-speed railway, connecting Birmingham and London with future services extending to Manchester, the North West, and Scotland. The route will include 140 miles of track, four stations, two depots, 32 miles of tunnel, and 130 bridges. Initial services will operate between Birmingham Curzon Street and Old Oak Common in London from 2029 to 2033. The HRS03 HV Power Rail Systems Contract, delivered by the Siemens Mobility Costain Joint Venture (SMCjv), covers 25kV Traction and 33kV/11kV Non-traction HV power for HS2’s rail system Phases 1 and 3 between London Euston and Birmingham. This includes HV power, SCADA, Civils, Protection & Control, EMC, E&B, and LV power disciplines.
The Project Quantity Surveyor will lead the commercial management of all design works, including subcontract and self-delivery elements, reporting directly to the Senior Commercial Manager. This role involves managing a growing team and establishing best-in-class commercial functions to deliver value for money for both HS2 and the parent companies involved.
Experience
- Proven experience in placing and managing NEC3 design subcontracts
- Ability to identify and assess supply chain change entitlement within subcontract frameworks
- Proficient in measurement of works for payment assessments
- Ability to work to deadlines and integrate effectively within a team culture
- Experience leading and motivating a team
- Desirable: Experience interpreting works information and contract conditions confidently
- Desirable: Experience with HV electrical design systems and design processes
- Desirable: Previous involvement in HS2 projects

Qualifications
- Essential: Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or related construction subject
- Desirable: RICS / ICES chartership (or equivalent)
- Desirable: Relevant CSCS card
