Description
Title: Public Affairs Executive
Salary: £34,586 - £36,407
Location: Farringdon
Perm/FTC: Permanent - Hybrid Working
About Us:
Metropolitan Thames Valley is a 58,000-home provider of affordable homes and care and support services in London, the South East, the East Midlands, and East Anglia. With a history spanning 70 years, we believe that everyone should have a home and the chance to live well. We are currently the Chair of the G15, the voice of London’s largest housing associations, collectively housing one in ten Londoners and building a quarter of the capital's new homes.
This role:
As the Public Affairs Executive you will play a central role within the fast-paced and multi-disciplined Corporate Affairs Team, working at the cross-section between politics, communications, and policy.
You will plan and deliver insight and evidence-based activity, with political awareness at the forefront of your work, to make a difference on the issues that matter most to our residents and the people we work with, whilst generating external support for MTVH. As the next general election draw closer, we enter a critical time for our organisation as we seek to influence and play a leading role in issues ranging from tackling the housing crisis to addressing the climate emergency, alongside advocating for our communities across a range of issues, including the rights of migrants through our work leading the Migration Foundation.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Community Engagement & External Affairs, the successful candidate will work across MTVH’s directorates demonstrating a proactive and forward-thinking approach to stakeholder management. The role will also include working with MTVH colleagues to respond to media enquiries, as well as identifying opportunities to promote our work through proactive media output.
What you'll need to succeed:
You will have a strong political knowledge and an interest in the housing sector (experience of the housing or related sectors is desirable, but not essential). You will be an excellent communicator who is comfortable with developing content for a range of audiences and have experience engaging with and summarising complex topics to support decision-makers. Excellent planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills are essential, and you will ideally have experience of organising events/visits. You will enjoy working collaboratively at all levels to solve problems and develop solutions, appreciating a range of views and opinions as well as offering advice to suit varying situations and needs.
