About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Connect Plus Services (CPS) team, supporting the M25 London Orbital Motorway project. CPS is a joint venture between Balfour Beatty, Atkins and Egis, responsible for operating and maintaining the M25—Europe’s busiest motorway. Delivering over £100m of annual investment alongside planned and reactive maintenance, this is a complex and high-profile network requiring robust and efficient planning. If you are building a career in highways, this role offers exposure to one of the UK’s most challenging and dynamic infrastructure environments.

A Quantity Surveyor will have several years’ experience in measurement and valuation of civil engineering work and reconciling to costs. You will support senior members of the commercial team in delivering varied commercial duties and be responsible for procuring and administrating supply chain agreements. You will actively seek to minimise project costs and enhance value for money while maintaining required standards and quality for our customers.

Typically, a Quantity Surveyor will be chartered or in the final stages of achieving professional membership of RICS, ICES or a similar professional body and act as a peer role model for less experienced commercial team members.

Key responsibilities include:
- Adhering to company governance including GMCEs and BMS
- Analytical thinking and decision making by ordering information and systematically checking data
- Measuring, recording and valuing work unsupervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures
- Estimating by measuring and interpreting specifications and drawings, building up estimates from first principles including net and gross estimates
- Preparing Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates
- Reviewing weekly, monthly and section programmes of works
- Planning commercial activities to meet programme requirements
- Understanding delay and disruption programmes
- Using the company’s ERP system
- Collating cost and value information and preparing cost reconciliation statements

Experience
BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience is essential.
Previous commercial work experience and industry knowledge are desirable.

Qualifications
