Full time with flexible working hours to support a 24/7 operation, including weekend working and on-call cover (1 in 4 Saturdays, 1 in 4 weeks on call included within salary)

Salary
£55,988 per annum
Up to 4% discretionary bonus scheme, subject to achievement of targets
Overtime paid at time and a half
Full door-to-door pay

About the Role
Are you a Senior Refrigeration Engineer ready to step up into a Managing Engineer role? Or are you an experienced Managing Engineer seeking to join a strong and stable company within the Supermarket FM sector? This role offers you the opportunity to lead a team of Refrigeration Engineers, ensuring planned and reactive maintenance tasks are completed on time and within budget.

You will be responsible for supervising the team as their daily point of contact, providing management support, guidance, training, and development to maintain a high level of customer service. You will manage staffing including the call-out rota to ensure safe and adequate cover at all times.

Key responsibilities include providing technical support and training, assisting with HR processes such as disciplinary handling and performance reviews, managing holiday and absence cover, investigating and escalating health and safety incidents, supporting budget management for parts and materials, and representing the business at client and manager meetings.

This role requires you to work autonomously in a pressurised environment, prioritising a complex workload while maintaining excellent communication with clients, colleagues, and store teams. You will be customer service driven and thrive in a people-focused environment.

Experience
Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience working on a mobile basis in refrigeration engineering
Proven experience within supermarket refrigeration and FM environment
Demonstrable management or supervisory experience is desirable

Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and use diplomacy with clients and colleagues
Capable of supervising engineers in a pressurised environment while dealing with store teams and members of the public
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a complex and demanding workload
Customer service driven and able to work autonomously

Qualifications
City & Guilds qualified in Refrigeration or equivalent, including F-Gas certification
Full UK driving licence is essential
18th Edition qualification is desirable but not essential
