Hours
Full time – 37 hours per week, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday with on call responsibilities (1 in 3 weeks) and expectations to support the needs of the home.
Salary
£55,000 per annum (salary may be exceeded for an exceptional candidate) plus £1,200 on call allowance

About the Role
Join Action for Children and the London Borough of Hackney as the Registered Manager for a new 4-bedroom trauma-informed therapeutic children’s home in Stamford Hill, Hackney. This role involves leading the development, launch, and ongoing management of a high-quality children’s home that provides stable, safe, and loving environments for children and young people to grow up supported and happy within their local community.
You will be responsible for building and leading a dynamic team, securing OFSTED registration, and ensuring the delivery of care that prioritises psychological safety, empathy, and relationship building. The home will offer tailored support to meet the unique needs of trauma-informed children, enabling them to feel physically and psychologically safe and empowered.
Key responsibilities include recruiting and leading your workforce, setting values and principles aligned with national standards and partnership agreements, delivering positive outcomes for children, and liaising with stakeholders and community agencies.
This is a pivotal leadership role that offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people in Hackney.
Experience
- Proven management experience in trauma-informed children’s residential care
- Experience working with children at risk of criminal exploitation and sexual abuse
- Demonstrated track record of Good or Outstanding OFSTED ratings in leadership roles
- Ability to provide a contained and fulfilling environment for staff, promoting psychological safety and building resilient teams

Qualifications
- Level 5 qualification such as Diploma in Leadership and Management of Residential Childcare or equivalent
