About the Role
Hackney Council is a dynamic and progressive local authority committed to equity, inclusion, and innovation. The Telecare Officer (OT) role is based within the Adult Social Care division, specifically the Occupational Therapy and Sensory service. This forward-thinking service supports residents to live safely and independently in their own homes by integrating TeleCare assessments and interventions into wider social care services.
As the lead for TeleCare, you will establish and manage a new in-house Telecare assessment service. Your responsibilities will include developing and delivering training for staff and carers, improving the quality of assessments, supporting safe hospital discharges by coordinating TeleCare equipment installations, monitoring service performance, and providing supervision to the Telecare Co-ordinator.
This role offers the opportunity to apply your clinical expertise creatively to deliver person-centred solutions that enhance the safety and independence of Hackney residents.
Experience
- Significant experience in conducting effective Occupational Therapy assessments for disabled people.
- Experience in developing and managing TeleCare services and installing basic TeleCare equipment.
- Proven ability to plan and deliver training sessions and small group events.
- Experience supervising staff and managing performance.
About you
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of TeleCare aims, assistive technology, the social model of disability, and relevant legislation including The Care Act 2014.
- Proactive, inclusive, and committed to the values of equity and diversity.
- IT proficient with working knowledge of databases, word processing, email, and information management systems.
Qualifications
- UK state-registered degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (DBS) check.
