The Telecare Officer (OT) role sits within the Adult Social Care division, specifically within the Occupational Therapy and Sensory service. We are a forward-thinking and innovative service committed to enabling independence and supporting residents to live safely in their own homes. We are currently focused on integrating TeleCare assessments and interventions seamlessly into Hackney’s wider social care services. As a Telecare Officer (OT), you will act as the lead for TeleCare and be responsible for establishing and running a new in-house Telecare assessment service. Your key responsibilities include:
- Developing the TeleCare service: designing and delivering training interventions for staff and carers, and ensuring practitioners understand the role of assistive technology to support health prevention and personalisation.
- Improving the quality of assessments: reviewing complex requisition requests, providing clinical guidance to practitioners, and implementing activities to enhance assessment quality.
- Supporting emergency hospital discharge: facilitating safe hospital discharges by coordinating the installation of essential TeleCare equipment at short notice.
- Performance and monitoring: monitoring service performance against benchmarks, managing data accurately on internal systems (e.g., Mosaic, ELMS2), and reporting progress to senior managers.
- Supervision: providing effective supervision to the Telecare Co-ordinator.

Experience
Significant experience in carrying out effective Occupational Therapy assessments for disabled people, developing and running TeleCare services, and installing basic TeleCare equipment.

About you
Strong ability to plan and deliver effective training, facilitated sessions, and small group events. Skilled in creating work plans, supervising staff, and managing performance. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work under your own initiative and prioritise work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in IT tools including databases, word processing, email, and information management systems.

Qualifications
A UK state-registered degree in Occupational Therapy and a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (DBS) check.
